Research

This research project is about understanding staff engagement and perceptions of factors that influence safety and function when designing Operating Rooms (OR).

Health providers need rigorous evidence to make decisions that affect patient and staff safety, efficiency and function. However, evidence based guiding principles for the engagement of Operating Room (OR) staff in the design phase does not feature in the literature.

Understanding the manner in which Operating Room (OR) staff are engaged in the design phase may lead to better coordination and collaboration in the design of Operating Room (OR) spaces.

Operating Room staff and designers are invited to participate in this study.
